0 MAC Nocturnal pigment sets haul

It's been quite sometime since I last updated this blog and during this period of time, I've acquired a no of new make up items, but have no time to review them as of yet due to work commitments. Anyway here are some of the cosmetics from my latest haulage.

From MAC nocturnals,
I bought the purple pigment set and the black and gold pigment set. For the price of one set of pigments, it's high value for money as compared to their full sized ones. So if u have not tried MAC pigments before, this is a good time to get their pigment sets and try them out while getting value for your money.

Each set contains of 2 glitters and 3 pigments. The pigments are multi purpose and depending on the color, u can either use them as eye color, highlighers for the face and even lip colors. As for the glitters, as they are really chunky i would advise using a synthetic damp brush to press them onto the eyelid (withe a GOOD eye primer). The pigmetns are pretty ok for me to handle, just that the glitters doesn't adhere too well to the skin and need a bit more work for me to apply without getting glitters all over my face.

Packaging
I prefer this packaging to the previous years packaging for the pigments (excluding the crushed metal pigment sets) as the opening of the bottle is bigger and easier for me to pick up the color using my brush and slightly more stable the the old pigment set bottles which were slightly thinner and more unstable.

Will update this post for swatches of the pigments at a later time. =) Have a happy holidays!

0 Etude house pink lipsticks review

I bought a couple of Etude house (A Korean cosmetic brand for those who are not familar with Asian cosmetics) lippies sometime back and was planning to review these but haven't got a chance to review these till now. Being Pink lippie addict, when I swatched this in the store, I couldn't resist and bought them.

The colors I bought were PK002, PK014 and PK004. (I wish they would name their lipsticks in names rather than numbers, I have a hard time remember lipsticks in numbers rather than names)

Price range: about SGD $18 (I cant remember the exact price range but it's somewhere about this range) It's not cheap but it is not exactly expensive either.

Packaging: Comes in a cutesy pink plastic packagingwith a small pink ribbon at the bottom (Etude house is known for their cutesy girly packaging) which I don't exactly love nor hate.

Now on to reviews and swatches of the lipsticks

PK002 is a blue based cool toned pink which i feel works better for ladies with lighter complexion. It has a very creamy finish which is similar to that of MAC's cremesheen lipsticks. May go on a bit patchy  at times. Would suggest applying one layer of this first, blot off and apply and blot off again for it to apply more evenly. I cannot wear this color alone without another make up, it makes me look .... erm weird. But it pairs very well with cool tone e/s like pinks and lilacs and mint green.

PK014 is my favourite lipstick of the 3 colors I bought, It is a fuschia pink with a matte finish. Unlike many matte lipsticks which is super drying and draggy on my lips, this lippie applies very smoothly and evenly on my lips. It is the kind of color that suits ladies of all skintones and sometimes on my off day when I dont wear make up on my face, I would just wear this color to add a pop of color on my face. Reminds me a little of NARS schiap lipstick which is jus a tad slightly brighter than this color

PK004 also has the same creamy glossy finish as PK002 and has some coral undertones to it. It is also another color which can be worn without make up just to perk up the face. I do like this color but not as much as PK014 due to the texture. I would like this much better if the texture was like PK014. Like PK002, I need to put in effort to make this look non patchy on me. Sometimes, I just don't have the time to apply, blot, apply and blot again. :( Nice color though.

0 YSL Youth liberator Serum foundation

When I first heard that YSL was coming out with the youth liberator serum foundation, i was pretty excited bout it as I am current using their youth liberator skincare series which I really love as it helped my skin become more smooth and firm than before.

Basically, as the name goes, this foundation includes their youth liberator serum (glycans or youth keys) in it to for firming, anti-wrinkle and smoothing effect.

Features
1. Provides medium-buildable coverage (slightly more coverage than Le teint touche eclat
foundation, but i wouldnt call it full-full coverage, but it does help to cover up my pores
    and evening the skin tone)
2. Gives a natural finish (as compared to Le teint touche eclat foundation which gives more
of a high shine dewy finish)

Lasting power
1. About 8hrs of wear with a setting powder over it
2. Although this  doesn't claim to be sweat resistant, but when i danced vigorously and
sweated quite bit, it still stayed on the face without unning.

Conclusion
When I wear this, I received a lot of compliments on how good my skin was, so I will definitely be buying this again and again. I personally prefer to use this without powder on my cheek areas (with only some powder on the T-zone area, as my T-zone area tends to get oily after a while). The shade I bought was B20 (yellow toned), slightly fair on me at first, but after some time it settles and blends quite nicely into my skin. Recommend people with combination-oily skin to use an oil control primer below for even more lasting power

0 MAC antonio lopez 6 eyes Teal Palette

As compared to the purple eye palette as previously reviewed, in terms of color pay off and texture, this teal palette from antonio lopez is much better in my humble opinion.

Of all the 6 colors in this palette, Freshwater and nighttrain are repromotes from MAC's regular/permanent line.

Sex and Disco (Lustre): For a lustre e/s, it has pretty smooth texture. It's somewhat of a duochrome color that has grey and pink undertones to it.

Colorful life (Veluxe pearl): Smooth, blendable texture with decent color pay off. This is the  star in this palette (Ok I love teal e/s so I maybe biased towards this color XD )

Freshwater (Veluxe pearl): Repromote. If u like bright colors, this blue is one of the must have colors from MAC permanent line up. Buttery smooth texture and good colorpay off

Nighttrain (Lustre): Has the typical lustre texture, sheer color with slight glitters

Sketchbook (Lustre): Black with gold shimmer. Sheer buildable texture, not as smooth and buttery as the  Colorful life and freshwater but still workable without too much effort

Fashion Legend (Lustre) Looks like MAC's beautymark e/s  in the pan (black with purple glitter) but definitely more pigmented and not as chalky as beautymark which is also a lustre finish

Overall review: Definitely a better buy than the purple eye palette as most of the e/s in this palette are pretty smooth, blendable and with decent color pay off. And all the colors complement one another. U can do a bright colorful eye with this palette and as well as a smokey eye with this at the same time.

0 MAC Antonio Lopez - 6 eyes violet palette

This was yet another item I purchased from MAC antonio lopez. I was very attracted to the packaging and color combination in the palette. The palette features another illustration of of one of Antonio Lopez muses on the cover (diff girl from the face kit) and it contains 6 shades of color in a very compact casing.

But as to color pay off, some colors in this palette needed quite a bit of packing it on (and with an eye primer below) to get it to appear stronger, so it was kinda a disappointment as I had hoped that the colors especially the pink and the purple one would apply more smooth and more intense.

Lithe Spirit (Satin): Some what reminds me of a cross of Brule and Vanilla e/s in MAC's regular colors. It says it's a satin finish, but i feel this comes across more matte abeit a bit chalky.

Envisioning Pink (Satin): Applies slightly better than Lithe Spirit, but i still have to use a synthetic brush like MAC #242 and pack it on to get the color to appear better

Violet Impact (Veluxe pearl): The most disappointment color in the palette. I had wished for this color to be stronger, and being a Veluxe pearl finish I had expected this color to be buttery smooth in texture just as with MAC's other usual veluxe pearl finish eyeshadows. But not so in this case. It is quite chalky and as with the previous 2 colors I had to put in a little more effort to get this color to appear true to its pan

Showgirl (Veluxe pearl): Applies much better than the other 3 colors mentioned above. Kinda reminds me of MAC silver ring e/s.

Graphic style (Veluxe pearl): Smooth and blendable finish, just slightly darker than Showgirl.

Carbon (matte): I still prefer the very very old batch of carbon which I bought many yrs ago and which I still have up to today. The carbon in this palette and the new batches just cannot be compared to the old batches.

Overall review: I bought this palette mainly for the pink and the purple, but the color payoff of these 2 colors kinda disappointed me even though I can still with GREAT EFFORT (with an eye primer and a synthetic brush) get the colors to work but still i would have prefered if the texture of the pink and the purple e/s were not so chalky. It is a shame actually as the packaging is really cute but the colors is just mehz.... : (

0 MAC Antonio Lopez face kit in Coral

As mentioned in my previous post, this was the other face kit which i purchased from the MAC Antonio Lopez collection. Packaging wise it is the same as the pink face kit, with the same illustration of the same girl on the front and the same sliding out packaging. Whilst the pink face kit is leaning more towards the cool side, the coral one is definitely leaning more towards the warm side and imho, of the two palettes, this one suit more skintone colors than the pink kit

The face kit consists of the following shades
1. Smooth harmony beauty powder (med brown peach) => contour shade
2. Star! Irridiscent powder (Pale beige with shimmer) => highlight shade
3. Passion for calor (Coral pink) => blush

Smooth Harmony blush as compared to its counter part in the pink face kit is definitely much more pigmented and if used light handedly it can be used as a peachy orangey blush as well as a contour color at a same time. Star! Irridisecent powder on the other hand is not as shimmer/glittery as Belightful IP and gives more of a sheen on the cheekbones rather than glitter glitter. Passion for color somewhat reminds me of a cross between fleur power blush and Royal sunset (LE blush from MAC all about orange), not as pink as fleur power, but not as orange as Royal sunset. All three colors apply smoothly, color is medium-buildable and lasting power bout 8hrs of wear.

0 MAC Antonio Lopez face kit in pink

Being a fashion brand, MAC from time to time collaborate with fashion designers for their collection. For this yr, MAC specially released a collection featuring Antonio Lopez fashion illustration on their packaging for their face, eye and lip palettes. This collection also features a tote bag, a cosmetic pouch and also a #129SH brush.

For those who don't know who Antonio Lopez is (Well I also didn't know who he was prior to this collection as well), He was a  prominent fashion illustrator whose works was featured in various fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's bazaar and the Elle.

As for myself, I hauled both face kits and 2 eye palettes from the collection. I am very attracted to the illustration on the kits. It's somewhat whimiscal but at the same time fashionably chic as well For this post I will be reviewing on the face kit in pink. Both the pink and coral face kits feature the same packaging of the same girl

And inside each of the face kit, it feature a contour and highlighting shade and as well as a blush color. Perfect for people who are on the go and want all three in one. It is slidable so it is very compact and handy for travelling. Only down side, it is pretty pricey for these palettes. To be exact, it cost me $90 SGD for each of these palettes. Ouch, but I really like the illustration on this kit and the combination of the colors.

The pink face kit consists of the following;
1. Peaceful Beauty powder (Mid Tone peach) => contour shade
2. Belightful iridiscent powder (light bronze with gold shimmer) => highlight shade
3. Pure feminity powder blush (Mid tone blue pink, satin finish)

Peaceful beauty powder may look dark in the pan, but when applied it is much sheerer and is buildable. As for Belightful irridescent powder, it is a repromote. It has chunky glitters in it, so do not go overboard when u highlight with this. Less is more when it comes to highlighting with Irridiscent powders from my experience. Pure feminity blush also looks bright in the pan but applies more sheer and is buildable. Kinda reminds me of Nars Desire blush but a much toned down version of it.

0 MAC Riri Loves MAC fall collection

It has been aeons since I last updated my blog and to all my readers I apologise for this as I have been having some personal issues of mine which has been somewhat settled. And as for my latest haul, Our country finally received the Riri Loves MAC collection and I got myself only 4 items from the collection. (I wanted to buy the #187 brush as well, But alas I busted my budget as I had  just earlier bought 4 kits from Antonio Lopez which cost me quite a bomb :( )

1. Riri Woo lipstick (Our country didn't receive this from the earlier collection so it was a
good chance for me to grab this lipstick before it flies off the shelves which it definitely
   would have by now

2. Good girl gone bad blush (MAC website describes this as a warm copper, for fair skinned
ladies, this has definitely to be used with a light hand as it can look muddy if over
    applied)

3. Hibiscus kiss powder duo (I only wished the blusher part was bigger for this, as the
countour shade took up 2/3 of the compact and and I'm not a big fan of contouring nor
bronzing. But on a positive note, the brown side is not that pigmented, so I can still
use that as a cheek color abeit a bit peachy-brown on my NC20 skin tone)

4. Her cocoa eye quad ( Consists 4 neutral colors in shades of brown. It is a quad definitely
suitable for everyday wear and for all skintones. I can see myself wearing this daily,
Hence i bought it. I predict that this will be the first eye quad to be sold out from the
collection as it has such wearable colors esp in my country where most people are not
adventurous with colors and wear most only neutral colors like this quad)

I am really love the rose gold color packaging of this collection and of coz the pink color signature of rihana on them. It makes it look so ultra chic and classy with a femine touch. Only downside is becoz of the chrome like packaging, it tends to attract fingerprints very easily. But other wise no other rants. I can deal with that easily

Here are some close up shots of the products

0 China Glaze Nail polish in Turned up Turqoise (Neon)

When I first laid eyes on this color, I fell in love with this color and bought it as I am a big time lover of turqoise nail polishes. It is summer all time round in my country and I would so wear this color @ anytime @ anywhere.

Texture / color payoff:  It is a MATTE finish. Without my MAC overlacquer, It looked like I had just used some marker to color my nails. And I need at least 3 coats of this nail polish for it to be opaque. But it is a gorgeous color once a top coat is layered out it to give it more shine. It looks more green in real life than in this picture though. Some how my handphone cam and even my digital cam jus cannot capture the green in this gorgeous turqoise nail polish.

Time to dry: Relatively fast to dry as colored to regular nailpolishes as it is a matte finish

Lasting power: Average. Most nail polishes last at the most 2 days on me before they get chipped as I'm always using my nails to open stuff @ work.

0 Majolica Majorca Puff De Cheeks

For those who are have not heard or seen this brand before, it is a Japanese brand of cosmetics that is very popular in Asian countries, particularly in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. It is sort of like a western equivalent of a drugstore brand, but to be honest, their pricing are not really drugstore prices.

Would say the pricing is more of mid range. I do think their products are kinda overraved, but I couldnt help get sucked in by the cute packaging of their blushers. They look like tin shaped maracoons...awww so cute and yummilicious looking that I had to buy them. Besides, the colors are quite nice as well, so why not? (But I still stick to my stand that their other products are over raved. hahahaha. No offence to Majolica Majorca fans though!)

Here is the packaging of the blushers. Cute right??? =))

And they all come with a cute little puff in them too, though I wont be using the puff for applying the colors

Color payoff : Sheer to medium buildable. Of the 3 shades, OR302 is the only matte shade with no glitter. The other 2 RD 414 (Coral) and PK 415 (Muave pink) have some slight silver glitter in them.

Lasting power : Lasted on me for about 6 hours on my cheek area which is more dry than the T-zone. Faded slightly after that, but  still acceptable.

Pricing : SGD $23 for 7g worth of product. Would be cheaper in Japan, but not sure by how much.

0 YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in #27 Fuschia Innocent

As much as I love my MAC, there comes a time / point when u want to venture out to try products from other brands. After all, I believe that every brands have their hits and misses, and if u don't try you will never know. I am not really the kind that will insist to have the whole cosmetics collection just MAC only as if I were to do that, I would be missing out A LOT.

Anyway, to cut short, I've started using some YSL productsfor a few mths e.g. their le teint touche eclat foundation, skincare, nail polish and so far I've loved all of them. Being a bright pink lipstick fan, I decided to indulge myself in their hot sellin #27  (well at least the beauty advisor told me so) rouge pur couture lipstick. Here's the pics of the lipstick and how it looks on my lips.

Packaging : It comes in their usual gold chrome packaging with the YSL embossed label. It looks classy, but the only gripe i have with the gold chrome packaging is that it attracts fingerprints easily and I have to keep wiping to keep it look shiny XD

Color and Texture : I love hot pinks lipstick and so I love this hot pink as well. It is a pink which i can get away with wearing no make up or the bare minimum make up as it helps to brighten up my sallow complextion. Texture is creamy, smooth, non drying and doesn't emphasize the dryness of my lips. It kinda reminds me of MAC's amplifed creme texture, but more moisturising and lightweight on the lips

Price : Being a luxury brand, it's definitely on the high side. But I don't mind paying for quality products.

Overal, I would buy this lipstick again IF I EVER finish using it. It's a very wearable for everyday. It's bright but not too OTT.

0 MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralized Skin finishes

Wanted so badly to buy the Skinfinishes and the mineralized blushers from this collection, but alas, unfortuntely, due to a delay in shipment, our local counters won't be receiving the Mineralized blushers and most of the MES yet (hopefully soon). Anyway, better than nothing, I managed to lay my hands on Rio, Lust and Adored MSFs. I already had Soft and Gentle from the regular range. Gold deposit was too dark for my NC20 skintone, so I skipped that. Here are the pics and swatches of the MSFs.

Do note in generally all the Skinfinishes in Tropical taboo have very high metallic shine, so Less is more is needed for this product otherwise, well U will end up with a VERY metallic looking cheek. And due to the sheer color pigmentation of the msfs, I would recommend these to be used as highlighters over blushers, with the exception of Rio msf where the Brown part can still be used as a slight contour on the face and the pink part as highlighters.

I tried using Rio it as a cheek color by mixing the 2 colors, but the pink overpowered the brown and my cheeks looked way too shiny XD. I would probably use the brown alone seperately as a bronzer instead of mixing with the pink instead

As for Adored msf, I intentionally chose one with more seperate orange tones in it so that i could hopefully use it as cheek color. This works well as a light blush color for fair to medium skin tones but not anything more than that as if I layer too much of it, the frostiness shows through.

I would say Lust would work better for Ladies with medium to darker skintones. Fair skin ladies have to use this sparingly to avoid looking bruise. It kinda reminds me of a less intense version of Brunette MSF from Blonde Brunnette, Red head though. See here for comparison swatches. This would work best with a fibre optic brush like the 159 that launched with this collection or the 187 / 188 or 131 due to the high shine of the MSFs in this collection

NOTE: Avoid using on areas with large open / blemishes, as the frostiness in these MSFs might emphasize them.

0 YSL Creme D Blush in #7

Bought this sometime back, but haven't got about to using it till yesterday. What I like about this cream blush is that unlike some other cream blushers that I've tried, this is very lightweight and blends into the skin like a dream. The texture is like a mousse type of blusher, it feels creamy in the pot, but after applying into the face, it becomes powdery and super easy to blend out.

Color wise it is a sheer to medium and is buildable. Gives a very nice rosy pink flush that makes u look healthy without looking to Over the Top (OTT). The packaging is also very portable - it cames in a small acyllic square jar with the iconic YSL gold cover on top. Fret not, since it's acryllic, even if u accidentally drop it, U probably won't break the jar. Lasting powder is about 6 hours before it fades off slightly on me. U can either wear this alone or use it as a base with other blushers. Only downside is the price which can be a bit pricey for about 5.5g of product.

0 My Sculpted Face Kit Review

Bought this from a make up artist friend of mine who swore by this. And I have to say I'm very pleased with it. Whereas most contour powder turns out too orange on my NC20 skin, the contour colors in this palette works very well on me (at least for the 3 brown shades, the darkest one is a tad too dark for me and i use it for my eyebrow or eyeshadow instead). This kits consist of 2 highlight shades (one matte and one frosted) and 4 contour shades of different tones to work with different skin tones.

Even though it states it's a sculpting palette, but I also have use this as eyeshadow - white on the lid and the darker brown on the socket area. It works out pretty fine for this purpose as well. And for those who are new to make up and know nuts about contour or highlighting the face, fret not. This kit also comes with an insert guilding u on where to apply the contour (brown) and where to apply the highlight (white).Would repurchase this IF I EVER finish this. But i doubt i would finish this anytime in the near future.

Here are pics of the product and swatches
