0 MAC Tropical Taboo Mineralized Skin finishes

Wanted so badly to buy the Skinfinishes and the mineralized blushers from this collection, but alas, unfortuntely, due to a delay in shipment, our local counters won't be receiving the Mineralized blushers and most of the MES yet (hopefully soon). Anyway, better than nothing, I managed to lay my hands on Rio, Lust and Adored MSFs. I already had Soft and Gentle from the regular range. Gold deposit was too dark for my NC20 skintone, so I skipped that. Here are the pics and swatches of the MSFs.

Do note in generally all the Skinfinishes in Tropical taboo have very high metallic shine, so Less is more is needed for this product otherwise, well U will end up with a VERY metallic looking cheek. And due to the sheer color pigmentation of the msfs, I would recommend these to be used as highlighters over blushers, with the exception of Rio msf where the Brown part can still be used as a slight contour on the face and the pink part as highlighters.

I tried using Rio it as a cheek color by mixing the 2 colors, but the pink overpowered the brown and my cheeks looked way too shiny XD. I would probably use the brown alone seperately as a bronzer instead of mixing with the pink instead

As for Adored msf, I intentionally chose one with more seperate orange tones in it so that i could hopefully use it as cheek color. This works well as a light blush color for fair to medium skin tones but not anything more than that as if I layer too much of it, the frostiness shows through.

I would say Lust would work better for Ladies with medium to darker skintones. Fair skin ladies have to use this sparingly to avoid looking bruise. It kinda reminds me of a less intense version of Brunette MSF from Blonde Brunnette, Red head though. See here for comparison swatches. This would work best with a fibre optic brush like the 159 that launched with this collection or the 187 / 188 or 131 due to the high shine of the MSFs in this collection

NOTE: Avoid using on areas with large open / blemishes, as the frostiness in these MSFs might emphasize them.

0 MAC semi precious - Mineralized eyeshadows

Wanted to get all the eyeshadows @ first, but as i've overspent for this month, I had to limit myself to only 3. And it was a very hard time for me choosing ONLY 3 MES to buy. So after countless of swatching @ the counter until my whole hand and arm was full of glitters/shimmers, I settled on Blue sheen, Unsurpassable and Hint of Sapphire. If there are still stocks @ the end of the month (which I highly doubt there will be any left), I might go back for more... but otherwise, this is all the MES i'm gettin from semi precious for now.

Blue sheen MES

 Unsurpassable MES

Unsurpasable MES. From left to right: Dry, Wet

Do note that as each and every Mineralized eyeshadow is hand baked, color might slightly differ even if they are the same MES, as the swirls and mixture of colors are different. And all MAC MES, can be used wet or dry. The color becomes more intense when used with a wet brush as can been seen from the above swatches. I especially love Blue sheen MES, as the blue is so beautifully dark smokey blue when it's wet. Definitely nothing close to any color that i have, even MAC deep truth cannot compare to this gem of a color. If u love smokey eyes, I think blue sheen is a must buy. I personally find that it's best to use a synthetic brush like the MAC 242 brush to apply if u wan the color to be more intense and without the glitter fallout.

Will be skipping Fashion flower ........ cause am not attracted to the colors in the collection (I already own Lucky green e/s and alpha girl beauty powder from earlier collections). Money saved! Till the next collection!!! I seriously hafta save money.....

IMHO, New Vibe and Bi-tone are almost dupes of each other. The color looks almost identical in the pan and when swatched (only the design is different), So if u have one you won't need the other, unless u are a blush addict like me who likes to collect blushers even though they look very similar =)

0 MAC mineralized blushers - Peach / Bronzes

Part II of my MAC mineralied blushers. All Limited edition. For babes who like the healthy sunkissed look, you'll probably like these peachy toned mineralized blushers. My favourite of the lot has to be Happy Together MB, it looks really light and "blah" in the pan but gives a very nice natural subtle peachy glow to the face and it's not overly shimmery nor frosty which some MBs can be.

0 MAC mineralized blushers - Pink

Comments on MAC's mineralized blushers in general

Texture: I find most of the solid colors to be more pigmented and not as shimmery/frosty as the mineralized blushers with swirly patterns in them.

Usage: For those mineralized blushers that has 2 colors in them, I usually use the darker side as a blush and the lighter side as highlighting color. Otherwise, sometimes i would swirl and mix the 2 colors together, but that would mess out the nice color in the pan though.

0 MAC Mineralized Skin Finishes (MSFs) - Part 3

Part III of my MSFs review

Click for enlarged pic - All MSFs LE

By Candlelight: Released with Warm & Cozy collection. On very fair skin ladies, it can be worn as a blush color alone, but several swipes are needed in order for it to appear as a blush color. Otherwise for medium to darker skintones, this is a beautiful shade of highlightin powder. Not much glitters or shimmers, but might be metallic of overapplied

Refined: One of my favourite MSFs as well. Great texture (no glitters, no frostiness or whatsoever) and Great color. Gives a healthy flush of peachy color to the face without being overly shimmery or frosty. May be used as a blush color. Not to mention I LOVE the look of how this MSF looks in the pan. I can keep on looking @ it and never get tired of it

Perfect Topping: Depending on which part of the MSF your swirl (the muavey part or the whitish part), you will get a different color - either pink or more whitish. I use this more of a highlighting powder rather than a cheek color as the Perfect topping I bought contains more white parts rather than muavey parts

Lightscapade: LE released with Danse. It's my Holy Grail highlighting powder which i reach out for everyday. I CANNOT live without this. It's buttery smooth and non frosty nor glittery. Love this!

Gold Spill: Plenty of chunky glitters in this and little color payoff. Not a fan of this MSF

Stereo Rose: Plenty of raves for this color. It's a nice coral color that will suit all skintones and no chunky glitter nor frostiness in this. So I can understand why others love this. But I feel this is overhyped and overraved. There are other BEAUTIFUL blush colors from MAC which wins this hands down e.g. Hipness and Instant chic. Those 2 are beautiful Coral colors....more so than Stereo Rose. But this is just my personal opinion. Others may not think it this way.

o yep this wraps up my swatch n reviews of my MSFs collection. Broke it into 3 parts, cause I thought that if i wrote everything in one post, It would be too hard for u guys to digest... See ya till the next post! =)

0 MAC Mineralized Skin Finishes (MSFs) - Part 2

Here's part II of the pics and swatches of the MSFs that I own

                    Click for enlarged pic

Warmed: This was LE from the N collection. I almost wanted to pass this on as it looked really dark in the pan, But when I tried it on, It was nowhere as dark as it looked like in the pan. It gave me more of a nice golden peachy glow if used with a light hand. No chunky glitters in this as compared to some of the other MSFs.

Cheeky Bronze: Another peachy bronze shade similar to Warmed but has slightly more glitters in it.

Comfort: Would use this as an all over the face bronzer and as a contour color as it contains the least shimmers amongst all of MAC's colored msfs, but it still contains some shimers to give  a glow to the face without being overdone.

Redhead: LE from Blonde, Brunette, Redhead. I LOVE all the MSFs from this collection. They are the most smooth and buttery of MAC's msfs. Pigmentation is  great as well. Can use the lighter part for highlighting and the darker part as a cheek color. Otherwise u can swirl it together as blush color. Redhead gives the perfect peachy glow to the face without being overly shimmery or glittery. Luv this.

Blonde: Also LE from Blonde Brunette Redhead. It is more pink than redhead, but with the same great texture and color payoff

Brunette: For fairer skin ladies, pls use this with a light hand. Cause if over applied, it may give a sunburnt kinda look. But this would look gorgeous on ladies with darker skintones.

0 MAC Mineralized Skin Finishes (MSFs) - Part I

One of MAC's most popular and highly raved products, the MSFs (colored) ones are mostly limited editions and can be used either as highlighting powders, bronzers or blushers depending on the finishes of the product. As the products are hand baked, not one MSF is identical to one another. Each has its only unique swirl and mix of colors in it. It's actually like lookin at a piece of artwork really.

Click for enlarged picture (All are LEs except for  Soft & Gentle)

       Click for enlarged pic

Northern Light: This does show up as a blush color on me by itself, but as the chunks of glitter is a bit big, I mostly use it over my blushers to add a some shimmer and glow to the face.

Light Flush: Kinda reminds me of pink bronze pigment - a wee bit of orangy bronzy pink when worn on the face. It can be worn as a blush color on its own as well, but I do have to be light handed with this one, otherwise it can give a kinda weird orangy bronzy metallic pink look on my cheeks when I do not exactly like.

Glissade: One of the MSFs which contains the most chunky glitter of all. It's pretty sheer and too glittery to be worn as a cheek color by itself. If u don't like glitter on your face, or have open pores or acne scar on the face, lay off this. Cause the chunky glitters in this will only enhance the flaws. This is my least favourite MSF from MAC

Petticoat: Am loving this as a cheek color by itself. Gives a very nice raspberry pink flush of color to the cheeks.  And it looks delicious in the pan as well. I almost feel I can eat this. LOL!

Porcelain Pink: It's a pinkish highlighting color. Too light to be worn as a cheek color by itself

Soft and Gentle: Another highlighting color but more leaning more towards the neutral tone. I prefer this to shimpagne msf which i swapped off as I didn't like the chunky glitters in it. Suits all skintones. Be light handed with this though, it can look greasy if overly applied.

0 MAC regular mineralized blushers

Currently, MAC has 6 mineralized blushers in its permanent range - Dainty, Gentle, Love thing, Gleeful, Warm soul and Love Joy. Out of the 6 blushers, I own have 5. I first bought these from the Sonic Chic collection. They were first released as limited edition items (together with 3 other mineralized blushers in Pleasantry, Nuance and Merrily which were excellent but alas MAC didn't decide to make those permanent)but later made regular due to the popularity and increasing demand for mineral make up.

Although MAC has since released many other mineralized blushers, I still find that the original colors MAC released has the best texture and color payoff. Some of the LE mineralized blushers which were in duos or in swired texture were kinda glittery.. (Think glittery and Not shimmery...) for everyday wear. Although the regular MBs may look kinda shimmery when swatched on the hand, but the shimmers are actually very subtle when applied on the face and no where as shimmery when swatched on the hands.

Dainty - Peachy pink in pan and when swatched. This is my all time favourite mineralized blush. It works for many skintones from fair to medium-tanned skins, though on tanned skins it may take more work for it to show out.

Gentle - A muavy pink blush that looks similar to Coygirl blush in the regular collection but minus the shimmers. Works on all skintones. Pale skin ladies have to be light handed with this one as it's pretty pigmented

Love Thing - Has a lot of Red undertones to it. More recommended for people with darker complexions.

Gleeful - Looks beautiful on darker skinned ladies, But fair skinned ladies can still wear this abeit with a very very light hand. Has some tone of reddish brown to it. Not as dark as Love Thing

Warm Soul - A beautiful neutral toned blush. Good for nude make up. Shows up more on fair skined ladies. Medium to darker skin tones can use this as a highlighting powder on the face
